Montgomery County police are searching for the driver who hit a teenage boy in Germantown and drove away on Friday morning.
The teen was walking to Seneca Valley High School, when he was struck.
Montogomery County police spokesman Paul Starks said the teen was crossing Middlebrook Road, when he was knocked down by the vehicle. The driver did not stop, according to Starks.
The teen suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital to be checked out.
Six years ago, a 15-year-old student at Seneca Valley High School was fatally struck while walking to class.
Pedestrian accidents like these prompted county officials to do an engineering study of the crossings to Seneca Valley High School.
The Montgomery County Council released its findings last week. The report noted a number of issues, including a "lack of crosswalk markings across side-streets, faded crosswalks, and no Accessible Pedestrian Signals (APS) at some intersections."

The state has also filed a request to review the engineering of the roads and pedestrian crossings at every school in the state.
