Alexandria police took a driver into custody after he failed to pull over, instead ramming a police cruiser and attempting to get away.

Police tried to initiate a traffic stop after 11 p.m. Saturday.

The suspect vehicle crashed into another vehicle about a minute-and-a-half later at Duke Street and Callahan Drive near the Masonic Temple, police said.

Officers took everyone in the suspect vehicle into custody, police said.

Two people in the other vehicle were taken to a local hospital. The officer was not hurt.
