A skateboarder was hit and killed by a driver in California, Md., Thursday.

The 1990 Mercury Grand Marquis was traveling southbound on Route 237 in the area of Belvoir Road at about 1a.m. when the driver swerved to avoid hitting one skateboarder but hit another one instead.

Keegan Scott Clinger, 21, of California, was rushed to Baltimore Shock Trauma, where he died.

The driver, 32-year-old Lexington Park resident Derstin Roman Gray, will not be charged. The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office said speed was not a factor in the crash.
