The driver of the pickup truck that killed Brian Strobel has been charged

The driver of a pickup truck that hit and killed longtime WFLS radio personality Brian Strobel has been charged with reckless driving.

The Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office said Friday that 42-year-old Ralph Thomas Rapillo was charged with the misdemeanor on Thursday.

The sheriff's office says a pickup truck driven Rapillo ran off the road and hit Strobel on March 7. Strobel was walking his dog at the time. The 65-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

Strobel retired from WFLS at the end of 2007 after 30 years with the Fredericksburg station. He had worked a total 40 years in radio.
