Dog Escapes From Crate Onto Dulles Airfield

A plane headed overseas was stalled at Dulles International Airport Thursday when a dog being loaded onto the plane escaped its crate.

The dog escaped from its crate while being loaded into an plane bound for Frankfurt, a Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority representative said.

The dog got loose on the airfield and workers chased it around until it was cornered. Airport workers found the dog’s owner, who walked onto the airfield to help calm the pet down.

The dog and his owner both boarded the flight safely and set off for Frankfurt.

At least two dogs have escaped from their cargo carriers while being loaded onto planes this year, according to the U.S. Department of Transportation.
