Dog Valued at $10K Reported Stolen From Virginia Home

A Hanover County woman says her rare dog worth $10,000 may have been stolen from her backyard while she was hosting a group of dog breeders.

Virginia media outlets report that on Monday, Terry Allen's South African mastiff named Adoons went missing from her Beaverdam home. He is two years old, weighs 175 pounds and is light brown, with a docked tail.

Over the weekend, Allen had helped host a dog breeder association event that drew more than 50 breeders from across the country. She thinks someone who attended the three-day event may have taken him.

Allen bought Adoons for $10,000 in January from a breeder in South Africa. She believes he is now worth more.

Investigators with the Hanover County Sheriff's Office say stealing a pet is a class five felony.
