FAIRFAX, Va. -- Two people face animal cruelty charges after a dog allegedly was thrown from a second-story window during an apparent domestic dispute, police said.

Police responded to a call of a domestic situation in the 6400 block of King Louis Drive before 11 p.m. Friday. Officers learned that a 6-month-old pit bull/mastiff mix was thrown from the window by a man at the home, police said.

The dog suffered a broken front paw and was taken into Animal Control custody to receive treatment.

Terrence G. Merritt, 41, and 24-year-old Latoya Grant both were charged with animal cruelty.
