Dog Recovered After December Disappearance

Dog was in stolen car, was missing for nearly a month

Cody the miniature schnauzer has been found.

The three-year-old dog was reunited with owner Ed Reilly Saturday in Prince George's County, nearly a month after going missing when the car he was in was stolen.

Cody disappeared on December 22, after Reilly took the dog with him to work at Maurice Electrical Supply in Landover. Reilly left the dog inside his GMC Yukon SUV with the windows cracked open. Occasionally, Reilly would step outside to walk or feed the dog.

But when Reilly went outside to check on Cody at around noon on Thursday, the Yukon was gone.

The SUV was later found in Landover Hills. Police suspected that the car was used in a succession of robberies and a man found inside the SUV was arrested. But Cody was still missing.

Missing, that is, until Saturday, when a woman saw a flier with Cody's picture on it and alerted the authorities.

Reilly had offered a $1,000 no-questions-asked reward for Cody's safe return. There has been no word as to whether the money was claimed.
