It would seem the odds weren't in Michael Grayton's favor.

The D.C. Police Department is investigating the shooting of a police officer in Northeast DC after a tussle with a suspect.

Two officers had approached a group of people playing a dice game early Saturday morning, when a member of the group -- 26-year-old Michael Grayton of Northeast DC -- fled the scene while holding his waistband.  After a brief chase, officer Michael Kasco approached Grayton with his service handgun drawn.

That's when Grayton charged Kasco, the two struggled over the gun and it went off -- into Kasco's left knee.

After his arrest, officers found PCP in Grayton's possession.

Kasco, 39, was admitted to a hospital in stable condition for treatment of his injury, which is non-life-threatening, according to officials.
