Reward Offered in Case of Dead Dog Found in Southeast D.C. Dumpster

The Washington Humane Society’s Humane Law Enforcement team found a deceased dog in a dumpster in southeast D.C.

The team found the dog’s body wrapped in a blanket in the dumpster behind the 3100 block of Buena Vista Terrace S.E. in response to a call made on Aug. 21.

The dog was an adult pit bull with tan and white coloring. Its underweight body showed signs of abuse, with its nails overgrown and a gaping wound in its rear right leg.

“We have reason to believe that this was an owned dog that suffered greatly prior to his death, and we are calling on our community to come forward with any information,” Humane Officer Ann Russell said.

WHS is offering a $2,000 reward for information about the individuals responsible for this death.
