Deals and Discounts for Veterans Day

Free meals, haircuts and more for active and retired military members

Sunday is Veterans Day, a holiday created in 1919 to pay tribute to past and present veterans.

Businesses in D.C. and across the nation are offering special deals to honor active and retired military personnel for their service. See several of the deals below, and find even more here

Note that while some deals were only available on Sunday, others are also available on Monday, which is Veterans Day Observed.

Available Monday:

BLT Steak

Parties of one or two can get 50 percent off their checks; groups of three or more get 25 percent off. Available at several BLT Steak locations across the country on Sunday, except BLT Steak DC which will serve up the deal on Monday instead. Military ID is required.

Denny's

Vets and military members can get a free Build Your Own Grand Slam from 5 a.m. to noon on Monday. Valid military ID is required.

Famous Dave's

Vets and military members can get a free two-meat combo, which includes a choice of one side and a cornbread muffin on Sunday and Monday. Photo ID and proof of service required; can be U.S. Uniformed Services ID card, form DD-214 or current leave and earnings statement with photo ID.

FarmersFishersBakers

Active duty and retired military members can receive a 50 percent discount with valid ID on Sunday and Monday. The restaurant is serving it's popular buffet brunch from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday.

IHOP 

All active duty and retired Veterans are invited to come to a participating restaurant and enjoy free Red, White, & Blue Pancakes from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Monday.

Kramerbooks

Veterans get a free dessert on Sunday and Monday.

Red Lobster 

Veterans, active-duty military members and reservists can enjoy a free appetizer or dessert from Red Lobster's Veterans Day menu on Nov. 11 and 12. Valid military ID required.

Shaw's Tavern

Veterans get free bottomless mimoses at brunch on Monday.

Target

Target is offering a 10 percent discount to military members through Nov. 12. 

Under Armour

Under Armour now offers a 10 percent military discount off the entire purchase for active duty, retirees, veterans, military spouses, military family members, as well as a 10 percent first responder discount for active police, fire, and EMT customers. (The discount may be greater during promotional timeframes, Under Armour's web site says.) 

White Castle 

Veterans can receive a free combo or breakfast meal on Sunday or Monday. Meals are available for dine-in or drive through. 


Available Sunday (Past):

Applebee's 

Veterans and active-duty military members can get a free meal from a limited menu on Veterans Day, with proof of military service. Applebee's says they are aiming to serve 1 million meals to military members.

Bayou Bakery

Veterans and active duty military members get a 20 percent discount on their orders.

Bob Evans 

Veterans and active-duty military members can enjoy one free meal from a special menu all day long at Bob Evans. Proof of military service is required.

Buffalo Wild Wings 

Vets and military members can each get a free small order of traditional or boneless wings and a side of fries. Proof of military service is required.

California Pizza Kitchen 

Vets and military members can choose from a free pizza, full-size salad or pasta from a CPK special menu. You must show your military ID or other proof of service. Offer valid at participating locations, not including restaurants at airports, stadiums or universities.

City Winery

Veterans get a free dessert with military ID.

Chipotle

The burrito chain is running a buy one get one free promotion for military members, military spouses and retired military members. Valid ID required.

Church Street Pizza

Veterans and active duty military members get a 10 percent discount on pizzas Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Show an ID when you place your dine-in or carryout order.

Dunkin’ Donuts

On Nov. 11, Veterans and active duty military can enjoy a free doughnut at Dunkin’ Donuts restaurants nationwide, no purchase necessary. 

Fogo De Chao 

Veterans and active-duty personnel get 50 percent off through Nov. 11.

Great Clips

Veterans can receive either a free haircut on Nov. 11, or a card for a free haircut card to use in the future. Nonmilitary customers get a free haircut card to give to a veteran they know when they purchase a service on Nov. 11.

The Green Turtle 

Veterans and active-duty military members can enjoy a free entree valued up to $12 on Sunday. Veterans get a 15 percent discount daily at participating locations.

Krispy Kreme 

Vets and active-duty military personnel can get a free doughnut and small coffee at Krispy Kreme on Sunday.

National Park Service

All national parks that normally charge an entrance fee will be open free of charge to everyone on Nov. 11. 

On The Border  

Vets and military members can receive a free combo meal of their choice all day on Veterans Day. Military ID or proof of service required. Dine-in only.

Starbucks

Participating stores are offering a free tall brewed coffee on Nov. 11.

World of Beer 

Veterans and current service members can get a free select draft beer (where legal) or $5 off their checks. VA card or military ID required.
