Dangerously Cold Weather Expected for Rest of Week

If you plan to go out Saturday to celebrate Valentine's Day, be ready for some of the coldest air of the season.

Bundle up! Much colder air is beginning to settle into the region, and it will bring bitterly cold temperatures to the D.C. area this weekend.

Falling temperature overnight left some area roads icy Wednesday morning. The slick conditions prompted schools in Frederick County, Maryland to open 2-hours late.

We could see a little more snow Wednesday, but any accumulations should be an inch or less, Storm Team4 meteorologist Chuck Bell said.

The flurries should end around sunset, but temperatures will fall back into the 10s and 20s overnight.

Dangerously cold air is expected for the remainder of the work week. Expect highs in the upper 20s Thursday with wind chills of 10 to 15 degrees. If you plan to go out Saturday to celebrate Valentine's Day, be ready for some of the coldest air of the season, with single-digit wind chills and an overnight low of 10 degrees.
