A DUI suspect slammed his car into scaffolding just outside the Holocaust Museum Thursday evening after officers attempted to pull him over, police said.

Several streets were shut down from the Washington Monument to 14th Street while emergency crews attempted to remove the driver from the crash scene.

Capitol Police said they tried to make a traffic stop of the suspected drunken driver when the man drove away.  Police said the driver crashed into several parked cars before finally crashing into scaffolding just outside the Holocaust Museum.

Officers said the suspected drunken driver refused to get out of his vehicle, so he was forced out by police.

The man was taken into custody and faces charges.  No other injuries were reported.
