D.C. Is Nation's Third “Rattiest” City

Not only is Washington, D.C. more expensive than New York City, it also has more rats.

You read that right.

The District is the third "rattiest" city in the nation, beating out the Big Apple, according to Orkin's annual list.

Chicago and Los Angeles topped the list, respectively, with the most calls to Orkin for rodent treatments in 2013, the pest control company says.

Baltimore came in ninth place.

Orkin says fall is a prime time for rats to seek food, water and shelter, adding that it only takes a hole the size of a quarter for a rat to squeeze into your home or business.
