Turning Lexus Kills Motorcyclist in Va.

Two suffered severe injury and one man died in a vehicle accident on Saturday evening.

Police said the crash happened in the West Springfield area of Fairfax.  Two Harley Davidson motorcycles were traveling east on Braddock Road near Twinbrook Road.

Fairfax police said a 63-year-old woman driving a 1997 Lexus sedan was traveling west on Braddock Road.

The driver of the Lexus attempted to make a left into Twinbrook Road, putting her vehicle directly in the path of the two Harley motorcycles.

William Tyler Cowherd, 45, of Annandale, crashed into the passenger side of the Lexus.  He died at the scene.

A 50-year-old man from Manassas was carrying a female passenger on the back of his vehicle.  He too crashed into the passenger-side of the Lexus.  Both the man and his passenger suffered severe injuries, police said, but are expected to survive.

The driver of the Lexus remained on the scene.  Authorities said neither speed nor alcohol appeared to be a factor in the crash.
