3 Arrested in $13 Pizza Delivery Killing

Emmanuel Wright Bennett climbs into his mother's arms . He won’t get to celebrate his first birthday with his father, who was working two jobs to give his little boy a party.

On Sunday night, Paul Bennett was killed making a Domino's Pizza delivery on Seat Pleasant Drive.

Three suspects have been arrested -- Ricardo Barton, 22, Desmond Garner, 23, and Gregg Starks III, 23.

Angela Wright, the victim's girlfriend, said she was excited that arrests were made.

"I am at peace that they are caught and justice will be served," she said.

The suspects are being charged with first-degree murder and robbery. They stole a pizza, chicken wings and $13 in cash. Two are being held in custody in Prince George’s County, and one is in the District awaiting extradition.

"The investigators worked 'round the clock to identify leads and then we were able to identify the suspects and the MPDC helped us locate them," Lt. Tammy Sparkman of the Prince George’s County Police Department said.

Paul Bennett's mother plans on attending the arraignment of the three men charged with killing her son.

"I'll look them in the face and say, 'You killed my son for $13?" Pearl Bennett explained.

They will hold a birthday party for little Emmanuel at his grandmother's home in northwest Washington on Saturday afternoon. Then his family will begin planning his father's funeral.

"And I will tell him his father was a good man and trying to be the best father he could be," Angela Wright said.
