Police are investigating a D.C. schoolteacher’s claim that a student abducted her over the weekend.
The woman, who teaches at Woodrow Wilson High School, said she was forced into her car by two men in the Adams Morgan neighborhood early Saturday morning, according to the Washington Post. She then said the men took her to a bank and forced her to withdraw money from her bank account.
Police said she was then forced to drive to an unknown area near Bel Pre Road and Georgia Avenue. She was able to escape and flag down a passing vehicle. Her vehicle was recovered in the same area.
She suffered minor injuries, according to the Post.
A juvenile was later taken into custody, according to the paper. Sources told the Washington Post that the teacher believes it was a chance encounter and that she was not targeted. The teacher's name and the student's name has not been released.
Meanwhile, Montgomery County police said another arrest was made in the case.
Police arrested Jeremiah Juwley, age 25, from the Aspen Hill area of Silver Spring, in connection with the carjacking and kidnapping. Juwley was charged with one count of first-degree assault, one count of false imprisonment and one count of robbery. He is being held at the Montgomery County Detention Center on a $1 million bond.
