DC Streetcar Marks 6 Months of Service, Adds Sunday Hours

Transportation officials in Washington are marking six months of service for the DC Streetcar by announcing that Sunday service will be added next month.

The District Department of Transportation said Thursday that the streetcar, which runs 2.4 miles along H Street and Benning Road NE, will begin Sunday service on Sept. 18. That's the day after the 11th annual H Street Festival.

The streetcar began service on Feb. 27. That means its six-month service mark is this Saturday.

Transportation officials say that since passenger service began, the streetcar has carried more than 400,000 passengers.

The line has eight stops that take passengers from Union Station to Oklahoma Avenue at RFK Stadium's parking lot.
