Rule Change For Groups at Fairfax County Parks

There's been an amendment in Fairfax County that will affect organized sports at county parks.

The change will require groups of 20 or more desiring to use an athletic field to apply for a permit, first.

The park authority approved the change Wednesday night.  Each person is required to pay $5.50 per season.

Officials with the park authority say the change is tied to lack of field space.

The change applies to organized groups and teams, but not pickup games.  The Fairfax Park Authority told News4 that if a group in the park having a barbecue wants to start an impromptu game on the athletic fields, there would be no problem.
