DC Readying for Snow With 14 New Dump Trucks

The District of Columbia is readying for snow expected Friday and this weekend.

City officials said in a statement that this winter the city has 14 new dump trucks to salt and plow major streets as well as six new trucks to salt and plow smaller residential street.

On Wednesday, District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser will be helping give out shovels to members of the city's Resident Snow Team, which helps elderly and disabled residents who need help shoveling walkways during the winter. The mayor plans to give out shovels at the Franklin D. Reeves Municipal Center in northwest Washington at 10:30 a.m.

The city says it will let the public know of the deployment plan for expected snow as that information becomes available.
