D.C. Police Officer Shoots, Injures Robbery Suspect

Metropolitan police said an alleged robbery suspect was shot by a D.C. police officer late Friday night in northeast Washington.

Police said the officer responded to a burglary call in the 5300 block of Clay Terrace. After an encounter with three suspects, the officer fired his weapon once, striking Troye Roberson, 23, of northeast D.C.

Robertson has been charged with assault on a police officer while armed, carrying a pistol, attempt to commit robbery, and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

A second suspect, a juvenile male, was also apprehended. A third suspect is still sought.

Robertson was transported to a local hospital. The officer was not injured.

Investigators are working to determine the sequence of events leading to the shooting.
