Woman Sexually Assaulted After Mistaking Car for Uber: Police

A woman was sexually assaulted in northwest D.C. over the weekend after apparently mistaking another car for an Uber vehicle, police said.

D.C. police said the woman entered a four-door silver sedan shortly before 4 a.m. Saturday in the 3500 block of Macomb Street NW, believing the vehicle was a car with the popular ride-sharing service Uber.

The driver then produced a knife and sexually assaulted the woman, who was able to escape without further injury, police said.

The victim ran to a nearby home and banged on the door. The man who answered called police.

In her rush to get away from her attacker, the victim left behind her debit card, drivers license, SmarTrip card and house key.

Police are asking for the public's help in locating and identifying a suspect. He is described as being in his early 30s, with black curly hair.
