D.C. police say they have arrested a man who tried to escape from authorities by jumping into Rock Creek.

Police say the man was seen breaking into a vehicle on 24th Street in northwest Washington on Friday. As police pursued him, he jumped into the water near Thompson Boat Center.

Crews pulled the man from the water and took him to a hospital for possible hypothermia-related symptoms.

Police did not identify the man. They say charges are pending and the investigation continues.
