DC Man Charged With Murdering 2-Year-Old Boy

Police say the suspect is the boyfriend of the boy's mother

A woman's boyfriend has been charged with beating her 2-year-old son to death in D.C., police say.

Officers found the boy, Aceyson Aizim Ahmed, unconscious and unresponsive at an apartment on A Street SE Tuesday night, police said.

According to court documents released Thursday, the boy's mother was holding him in her arms and screaming, "'My son ain't breathing, take him to the hospital. He threw up and ain't breathing no more! Help him!'"

A police report said the boy had multiple injuries to his upper body.

β€œThey put him on a truck right there in the back and they started pumping his heart," neighbor Rogann Matthews told News4.

Medics took the boy to a hospital and all efforts to save him failed, police said.

An autopsy found Aceyson had multiple blunt force injuries and his death was ruled a homicide. The medical examiner found the boy had significant injuries to his head and torso, according to court documents.

"An incredible amount of force was used against this child who prior to the assault was healthy," court documents said.

Police arrested 24-year-old James Embre, of Southeast, and charged him with first-degree felony murder. Embre is the boyfriend of the boy's mother, police said in a news conference Wednesday.

Embre was set to appear in court on Thursday, police said.
