MPD Officer Accused of Burglary

Police say they busted a burglar this weekend who was a member of the Metropolitan Police force.

Officers from MPD's Internal Affairs Division recruited Officer Jennifer Green, 28, to join them in what was presented as a burglary of a private residence.  The operation was really a sting.

According to investigators, Green was an active participant in the mock-burglary, which took place on Saturday.

Following the conclusion of the break-in, Green was arrested for receiving stolen property.  The arrest was made in the 5500 block of Colorado Avenue NW.

Green, a five-year member of the force, was placed on paid administrative leave, pending trial.  A judge ordered Green to undergo drug testing and surrender her weapon.

"We must be just as proactive about preventing corruption as we are about preventing crime," D.C. Police Chief Cathy Lanier said.
