D.C. Lobbying Group Calling Out Lawmakers Over Pot Vote

A lobbying group that supports full representation in Congress for residents of the nation's capital is calling out lawmakers it says have undermined democracy.

D.C. Vote launched an effort this week that it calls "30 days of disapproval.'' Over the next four weeks, the group will criticize individual members of Congress who voted for a spending bill that includes language blocking the District from moving forward with marijuana legalization.

The list includes 11 Republicans and 10 Democrats, including some who are longtime supporters of District voting rights but nonetheless supported the bill.

District leaders contend that because of vague language in the spending bill, it doesn't actually bar the city from legalizing pot, only from taxing and regulating the drug. But Congress could still take further action to stop legalization.
