Limb Pins Fairfax Man in Car

A tree limb fell onto a pick up this morning trapping one man inside.

Rescue crews in Fairfax County were called about 9:30 a.m.  to the area of U.S. 1 and Collard Street in Alexandria.

When they arrived, the found a man trapped inside a Chevrolet pickup.

Crews worked to extract the man, who suffered injuries that appeared to be non-life threatening, said Fairfax County Department of Fire and Rescue spokesman James Hedrick.

Crews had to removed the drivers-side door to the truck. They also had to cut up the remaining pieces of the downed tree limb that were strewn across Collard Street.

The limb fell Saturday as high winds prevailed across the region.

Washington and its surrounding counties were under a high wing warning from the National Weather Service, which stated residents could expect gusts up to 60 mph.
