DC Eligible for Federal Funds for December Storm

The District of Columbia will be eligible for disaster aid in connection with the season's first big snowstorm in mid-December, the Federal Emergency Management Agency said.

President Barack Obama declared the storm a major disaster for D.C. this week.

Maryland and Virginia previously received disaster declarations for the same storm. Money will be available to the state and local governments and to certain nonprofit organizations for emergency work and the repair of facilities damaged by the Dec. 18-20 storm.

All three jurisdictions are also applying for aid in connection with the back-to-back storms in February.
