An employee of a high-end daycare center in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood of D.C. has been charged with abusing infants.
Claudia Roldan, 35, physically abused a 3-month-old and a 7-month-old at Kiddie Academy of D.C. at 1227 25th St. NW, prosecutors say.
The 3-month-old baby examined this spring was found with 12 separate bruises on the child's back, left arm and both thighs, which appeared to have been caused by "blunt force or compressive force," according to court documents.
The facility is well-regarded by many parents, who told News4 they like its security measures, including multiple cameras. Kiddie Academy sends parents daily reports by email, plus images of their children throughout the day.
The investigation was aided by that footage, according to court documents.
In a statement to News4, owner Milena Mattingly said: "Earlier this summer, a teacher breached our conduct policy, resulting in her termination. We have been working closely with authorities that are conducting this investigation.
The education, well-being and safety of the children in our care continues to be our priority and of upmost importance to the staff and owners of the Kiddie Academy of D.C. - West End."

Roldan, of Rockville, was charged with two counts of second-degree child abuse and was released on her own recognizance.
