The District of Columbia Department of Motor Vehicles’ ticket payment system is back up following a power outage at its vendor's New York office Tuesday morning.
The DC DMV could not process ticket payments, research tickets or access tickets until around 5 p.m. Tuesday. Tickets submitted online or by mail also could not be handled.
For those who had scheduled hearings and in-person hearings and provided DC DMV with a hard copy of the tickets and evidence, the hearing decision will be entered into the system later. DC DMV will also mail customers the hearing decision.
Additionally, the deadline for ticket payments as well as for customers to submit a request for adjudication to contest tickets on Tuesday will be extended until Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016. DC DMV will also remove any vehicle storage fees accrued during the outage.
