D.C. Council Member Catania Considering Run For Mayor

News4 has learned D.C. Council member David Catania will form an exploratory committee Wednesday to run for mayor.

Catania, an independent, has until June to formally begin a campaign.

A dozen Democrats have thrown their hats into the race, most recently D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray. Several other council members (Tommy Wells, Muriel Bowser, Vincent Orange and Jack Evans) have announced their candidacies as well.

Catania has not yet released a statement on the committee, but is scheduled to visit Cedar Tree Academy in Southeast Wednesday morning.
