The D.C. Council is considering regulating tattoo and body-piercing establishments and their employees.
The council's Committee on Public Services and Consumer Affairs will hold a hearing Wednesday on the proposal, which would regulate tattooing and body-piercing in the District of Columbia for the first time.
The bill would establish health and education standards and require tattoo and body-piercing artists to be licensed.
Several tattoo artists are scheduled to testify at Wednesday's hearing.
