DC Beltway Reopened at Route 4 after Accident

All lanes of the Washington Beltway are open near Route 4 just north of Pennsylvania Avenue after being shut down early Saturday morning.

Maryland State Police said a single car accident occurred shortly before 7 a.m. One person was transported to the hospital with significant injuries.

Police said the beltway was closed because of debris. Two right lanes opened up shortly before 9 a.m. and all lanes were re-opened around 10 a.m.

Traffic was re-routed onto Pennsylvania Avenue during the full closure. It is not known how long it will take to clear the scene.
