Accused Serial Bank Robber Caught

Arlington Police

Police in Arlington caught a man suspected of robbing 6 banks in northern Virginia.

According to authorities, Peter Cifala, 57 has been charged with robbing one bank so far.

However, investigators believe that he is linked to five other robberies that happened over the past three months.  Police said in the string of robberies, the suspect would walk into the bank, imply having a weapon, receive money and then casually walk out.

Cifala, a resident of D.C., was arrested on Friday, August 19.  The Arlington County Police Department said tips from citizens helped them break the case.
