A cyclist was badly injured in an accident Tuesday morning at 17th and M streets NW.

It seems that the cyclist fell off his bike in the street, and was run over by a Range Rover, News4's Pat Collins reports.

The victim has been transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. The accident happened around 10 a.m.

Police are talking to witnesses and trying to determine who had the right of way. The driver of the Range Rover, a woman, is on the scene.

There are no bike lanes there.

All lanes are currently blocked at that intersection. Northbound 17th Street traffic is being diverted unto L Street. Eastbound DeSales Street is closed at Connecticut Avenue NW.
