Crime Alert Issued for UMD Campus

Students Mugged Just Off Campus

A crime alert has been issued for the University of Maryland at College Park after two students were mugged over the weekend.

It happened at about 3:20 a.m. on Saturday.

The students were approached by three men in the parking lot of the Subway sandwich shop on Route 1, just off campus, police said. One student was assaulted. The other was robbed of his cell phone. The crime alert was issued after the incident.

It's the fourth crime alert this semester, compared to five last semester.  

The Prince George's County Police Department is investigating the incident.
