The construction of an archway on the New York Avenue Bridge could be in its final stages.

The sculpture will serve as a gateway into the NoMa section of the city, and this weekend, crews will put the last piece in place.

The team that designed the sculpture is from Connecticut, but they are no stranger to D.C. They also designed the leaf sculptures that are at the far end of the main concourse at National Airport.

The one going up over the bridge is a little bigger, though; larger than five stories tall and will sit 52-feet above the road.

New York Avenue  will be closed from 9 pm Friday night until 5 a.m. Saturday while the work is completed.
