Major Delays After Crash on Beltway's Inner Loop

It could be slow going for drivers trying to get home on the Beltway Thursday afternoon.

Earlier in the morning, crews shut down all lanes of the Inner Loop following a serious crash that involved a tractor-trailer and two other vehicles, injuring three people.

According to Maryland State Police, witnesses say a tractor-trailer was weaving on the Inner Loop at New Hampshire Avenue when it hit a taxicab around 10:20 a.m.

The tractor trailer then jackknifed into the jersey wall. Several vehicles behind the crash were forced to stop short.

Hazmat crews had to be called in to assess some chemicals that spilled from the truck.

There's no word on the condition of those injured.

For much of the afternoon, only a couple of lanes were reopened, leading to backups.
