A police chase Friday in Fairfax County ended with a crash and a long backup on I-95.
Around 2:30 a.m., police said they tried to stop a driver who was speeding in the southbound lanes near the Eisenhower exit. The driver didn’t stop, and the officer chased him until he crashed near Backlick Road.
The 28-year-old driver suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital. At one point, two of the southbound lanes were shut down, and traffic was backed up for nearly two miles.
Alcohol is being investigated as a possible factor in the crash. The driver is being charged with several traffic violations.
