Cracked Rail Causes Orange and Blue Line Trouble

Issue reported near Rosslyn station

A cracked rail caused delays along the Blue and Orange lines on Monday morning.

Metro sent out a series of alerts midmorning, reporting a problem near the Rosslyn station.

At 11 a.m., Orange line trains were single tracking between Ballston and Foggy Bottom, and Blue line trains were single tracking between Arlington Cemetery and Foggy Bottom.  Some Orange Line trains were turned back to New Carrollton at Foggy Bottom.

Metro advised passengers to allow at least 15 extra minutes of travel time for the delays.

Last Thursday, a cracked rail near the Van Ness station delayed morning commuters along the Red Line.

UPDATE: At 12:20 p.m., Metro reports normal service has resumed along the affected section of track.
