Cop: Grandmother Admitted Tossing Toddler to Death

Tysons Corner toddler death case sent to grand jury

A police officer testified that a Fairfax woman admitted throwing her 2-year-old granddaughter to her death from a sixth story walkway at a busy Virginia shopping mall.

Carmela Dela Rosa is charged with the murder of her granddaughter, Angelyn Ogdoc. At a preliminary hearing Friday in Fairfax County court, the officer quoted Dela Rosa saying: "Yes, I did it. I threw the baby off."

Angelyn's mother, Mary Kathlyn Ogdoc, tearfully testified to watching Dela Rosa drop Angelyn from the elevated bridge connecting a parking garage to Tysons Corner Center on Nov. 29.

Ogdoc said she tried to keep a close eye on Angelyn when she was with Dela Rosa because the grandmother had previously tried to commit suicide.

A judge certified the charges after Friday's hearing and sent the case to a grand jury.
