Convenience Store Clerk Shot in Head During Robbery

A man shot and seriously injured a convenience store clerk early Saturday morning during a violent robbery.

The Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office said the gunman walked into the Fas Mart Store, located at 11600 Brock Road in Western Spotsylvania County around 3 a.m. He pretended to purchase an item and waited for the store clerk to turn away.

Investigators said the man then drew a handgun and shot the clerk two times in the head, leaving her lying on the floor as he left.

The gunman got away with an undetermined amount of cash and merchandise.

The suspect is described as a white male, 25 to 35 years old, 5'4" to 5'7", weighing 160 to 170 pounds, and with a black goatee. He was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt and jeans.

The victim, a 32-year-old woman, was transported to Mary Washington Hospital E.R. and subsequently transferred by air ambulance to MCV Trauma Center. Her condition is listed as very serious.
