Road crews will shut down the outer loop of the Capital Beltway overnight Saturday in northern Virginia, just north of Springfield, for construction work on the beltway's Express Lanes project.
The Virginia Department of Transportation says the closure will begin on the highway, also designated as I-495 South, around 9:30 p.m. Saturday just north of the Braddock Road exit. Crews will first close a single lane, and by 10:30 p.m. VDOT expects all southbound lanes to be closed, with traffic diverted onto Braddock Road.
All lanes are expected to reopen by 9 a.m. Sunday.
Motorists are advised to expect delays.
