Construction Worker Dies in Accident Near Beltway

An accident has claimed the life of a construction worker in Prince George's County.

State Police say the victim, William Davis, 27, of Bryantown, Md., was working in an overnight construction zone on Pennsylvania Avenue near the Beltway at about 12:30 a.m. Thursday.

According to police, Davis was standing on the side step of his dump truck with the door's window open. As he leaned into the cab of the truck through the window, a second dump truck backed up and struck him.  He became wedged between the two vehicles.

Davis worked for a subcontractor involved in the paving project. It is unclear if any charges will be filed in the accident.
