Chillum House Fire Causes $150,000 In Damage

A fire tore through a two-story house in Chillum early Sunday morning, displacing the family who lived there and causing approximately $150,000 in damage.

Firefighters were called to the house at 8004 18th Avenue at around 3:45 a.m. Investigators believe that the fire started on the rear deck of the house and spread to the roof and interior of the house. At the height of the blaze, firefighters were evacuated from the home in order to extinguished the flames on the roof.

It took 40 minutes for the blaze to be brought under control.

No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
