A 4-year-old child is in the hospital after a hit-and-run accident.
The child was struck in the area of Brighton Avenue in Lexington Park, Md., Tuesday afternoon, and the driver drove away from the scene, according to the St. Mary’s County Sheriff’s Office.
The child was flown to Children’s Hospital with injuries believed to be serious but non-life-threatening.
Several hours later, Gerald Keemer called authorities and went in for questioning, according to the sheriff's office. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving with a suspended license.
