An iconic restaurant in Annapolis, Maryland, will be getting new owners.
Chick and Ruth’s Delly, on Main Street, has been a staple for more than 50 years, serving many dignitaries over the years. Owners Ted and Beth Levitt announced on Facebook that they are stepping away from the restaurant business and turning over the keys to a long-time customer.
Ted Levitt called the new owner, Keith Jones, a very talented man and a good customer of Chick and Ruth’s for years. He said Jones wants to keep everything the same, including all the tradition and service.
One of the great traditions of the restaurant is to recite the Pledge of Allegiance at 8:30 a.m., Monday through Friday, and at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday and Sundays. They also offer free delivery to the nearby U.S. Naval Academy.
“It has truly been living the American Dream running our family business and meeting all our friends over the years,” Ted Levitt wrote on Facebook. “We have enjoyed watching over five generations of families grow up.”
He said he and his wife will continue to be around the restaurant, but they want to spend more time together and with their children.
