Carjacking Suspect Leads Police on Chase Before Crash

Suspect apprehended in D.C.

Police apprehended a carjacking suspect after a brief chase that began in D.C. and ended with a crash in Bethesda Wednesday morning.

An armed man carjacked a Honda CRV in the 5700 block of Loughboro Road NW about 10:30 a.m. He refused to stop for a U.S. Secret Service office and was chased into Bethesda, where he crashed into the woods on Little Falls Parkway near River Road.

The suspect ran through a wooded area and back to northwest D.C. Police from Montgomery County, D.C., the Secret Service and Maryland Parks searched for the man.

Police believe the same man threw a rock through the window of an Infiniti parked on a Bethesda street while police searched for him. The car's alarm alerted the owner.

"Nothing was taken," she said. "The police seem to think he was just angry."

He was caught about noon in at Massachusetts Avenue and 47th Street in Northwest.
