WASHINGTON -- Police chased a stolen car to 11th and K streets in Southeast Monday afternoon.

The car was jacked earlier Monday. Marked cruisers and a homicide detective tailed the car into the neighborhood near the Potomac Gardens apartments, where the vehicle struck a parked car.

Several people were inside the car, and one of them fired a shot, police said. No one was injured.

The officers involved in the chase exercised caution and restraint because there were a lot of people in the area where the car crashed, police said.

Police are interviewing several persons of interest, but no suspects have been identified.

Investigators recovered a gun at the scene.
