Three people were taken to the hospital after being exposed to carbon monoxide in their home on Sunday, according to the D.C. Fire and EMS Department.
Firefighters and medics were called to the 5000 block of 5th St. NW and found four people inside a home that had high levels of carbon monoxide. Three people were taken to the hospital, and one other was evaluated.

Investigators said there was a defective furnace inside the home, and the home did not contain a CO detector. Crews are venting the building.
